20th Anniversary "Barrett-Hike" on

We hereby invite all owners of the Haus and Team Barrett bears, along with friends and acquaintances, to this year's 20th anniversary hike.

This hike will take place

on Saturday, August 23, 2025

Meeting point: 8:00 a.m. in St. Goar
at the edge of town (bus parking lot), Am Hafen 10

The starting point of the hike in St. Goar will also be the end point. We will hike along the "Rhine Castle Trail" to Oberwesel and then return to St. Goar by boat.

There will be no lunchtime refreshment options along our route this time. Therefore, we will stop at the cafe and bakery at Heerstraße 95 in the morning before starting the hike. There, everyone can pick up a snack for lunch. However, there will be a particularly beautiful and scenic spot for a coffee break, namely the "GünderodeHaus," which some may not be familiar with. Those who cannot accompany us on the hike (such as owners of young dogs or participants of the "older generation") can also join us there. We have made reservations there for the time between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., so there will be plenty of time to hike to and along the city wall in Oberwesel before we have to catch the last boat. A 20-minute boat ride will then take us back to the starting point in St. Goar.

Since this is an anniversary hike and also the last "annual" hike, the Haus-Barrett team will prepare, House-Barrett Team will be in this beautiful area from Friday, August 22nd through Sunday, August 23rd.

A vacation apartment has already been rented for this period.

Therefore, our annual dinner, which in previous years has taken place at Pizzeria Josef the day before the hike, will be held this year in the beautiful village of Bacharach from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Dinner on the actual day of the hike is planned for St. Goar at the Winzerhaus Gärtner, An der Loreley 49-50, 56329 St. Goar. We have reserved tables there starting at 6:30 p.m.

As every year, we ask all participants of the hike to register with Hundemama at "Dagmar.Anderson@t-online" or, better yet, in the guestbook – so that owners of littermates can also see the participants – stating the number of people and the dog's name, so that we can inform the respective restaurant owners of the number of participants after the registration deadline.

Hundemama will upload a list of participants, which will be updated regularly.

As in previous years, Arthur, our "paparazzi," will document the hike with many photos, which will then be posted on our website for viewing.

Please be sure to bring water for the dogs on the hike! There are only limited opportunities to offer water to the dogs during the hike!

St. Goar

Meeting point at the parking lot, Am Hafen 10, in St. Goar.

Before the actual hike begins, we'll take a leisurely walk into the old town to the bakery (see address above), which sells delicious baked goods. Everyone will then have the opportunity to purchase a few items for lunch there.

Note: The planned route is easily manageable for young and old. However, the route is not suitable for strollers. Dog Mom would even claim that the initial climb is the steepest of the entire hike. This climb involves a 300-meter ascent, partly via stairs and partly along a forest path.

We should arrive at our lunch stop at around 11:30 a.m. We'll stay there for about an hour before continuing on towards Oberwesel.

Dagmar has reserved a section of the beer garden at the "GünderodeHauses" for our coffee break from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.

The owner points out that a flat rate for coffee and a slice of cake per person is charged. Drinks are billed separately.

After the coffee break, we will head towards Oberwesel, the destination of our hike. Once there, the final stage of our hike will take us to the still partially well-preserved city wall.

We then walk to our Cologne-Düsseldorfer boat berth.

We have to be at the berth on time, because the last boat leaves for St. Goar at 5:35 p.m. We then buy our tickets and wait for the boat

This approximately 20-minute boat trip, which takes us past the Loreley sculpture, will be a crowning finale for all two- and four-legged friends.

Once back in St. Goar, we'll head to the Winzerhaus Gärtner. Tables have been reserved for us there starting at 6:30 p.m. We'll then end our 20th Barrett Hiking Day celebration in a relaxed atmosphere.

For those who aren't returning home until Sunday, we'd like to suggest meeting up with us again on Sunday morning at a location to be agreed upon.

A group order for the T-shirts will also be placed again. However, it must be placed with us (Dagmar.Anderson@t-online.de) by the latest

The blue Haus Barrett T-shirt with printed lettering can be ordered for a fee of approximately €30 through "Hundemama." Orders can be sent to us via email, naturally specifying the size and quantity. Always order one size larger, or measure an old T-shirt and tell us the measurements from arm to arm, as well as whether it's a men's or women's T-shirt, as the T-shirts sometimes run small. The back will say "Haus Barrett" or "Team Barrett" and the dog's name with the dog's head logo.

The T-shirts will be handed out on the hike day.

Of course, we hope for lots of Barrett participants and ask that you wear the blue Haus Barrett T-shirts for the group photo that day.
